A tranquil sunrise at Wattamolla, Royal National Park just south of Sydney. People have asked me how I got the radiant effect from the sun. Simple – just pointed the camera at it lol. The flare comes from the sun’s’ rays hitting the lens at nearly 90 degrees and then the blades of the aperture diaphragm inside the camera splitting it up. Least that’s what I’ve been told so if anyone has a better explanation I’d love to hear it.

(insert happy sigh here) So very tranquil and beautiful…. Gorgeous colour gradient too.
As for your sun flare I have been told (very simply in small words and short sentences so I would be sure to understand) “If you want the sun to be a star, shut down your aperture and shoot directly into the sun.” Works a treat for me!
