Went on a holiday recently to Coffs Harbour and discovered this beautiful little rainforest cascade up in the hills just a 20 minute drive from the town.
As the sun set the forest turned this beautiful shade of gold and the water just got whiter against the black rocks. Just above the cascade is a large tranquil pool which I’ll show in a different perspective on the cascade in my next post.
Just couldn’t resist getting right down in the creek and shooting up for this shot though. It’s rare I find to be able to get a perspective like this on falls and cascades – usually the water spray means you have to be a fair bit away and face on but it was so calm here and the water dropped into quite a deep pool in front of the camera as I found out when I stumbled into it, luckily with the camera still on the tripod and above water. But at least that meant almost no spray.

I had to read the narrative to see how you were not engulfed in water collecting this awesome shot Geoff. The viewpoint is like no other I have seen before as the water at eye level cascades over the wide drop bouncing like small jets off each pocket of rocks as the trees and greenery provide a colourful and calming backdrop.
Damn but you write the most considered and thoughtful comments Stuart. Thanks so much for taking the time and care – can’t tell you how much I apprecaite it.

Great photo & perspective. Even after reading the narrative I can’t believe you kept the lens dry of water spray. Well done.
