Worth going to larger for this – lots more stars and detail.
These trees were drowned along with a whole valley to create a man-made lake as part of a hydro scheme in the 1950s. They’ve resurfaced as a result of a drought we’ve been having for the last few years courtesy of global warming.
I shot this about midnight under a full moon at Lake Eucumbene – the night transformed this desolate landscape into a hauntingly beautiful one but you could still feel the naked pain of this wounded land – and for what – the same never-ending drought has just about shut down the hydro scheme that did this.

The detail of the stars just amazes me each time – glad you take these pics to share with us Geoff! Love the nakedness of the trees and the graduated tint of the sky. Another beautiful piece.

Nice to have the description with your picture; a shame things come full circle after reaping havoc. Nice picture.

    Great Shot.

The bigger version looks better than the first view. I bet this would look even better, printed big and hung on your wall.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments – I know you know how very much appreciated they are.
flower – yeah when I first saw it as it shows up on RB I was horrified and nearly took it off – nothing like what it looks like in the full A4 size. Then I tried it on Larger Size and it looked better so I decided to leave it.
