Taken looking south to Wollongong from Providential Point, Royal National Park, just south of Sydney Australia.
This is my first attempt at a multi-exposure blend. This image is a combinations of 57 X 30sec exposures using the fantastic Startrails Photoshop Action that you can download free from this excellent site:
www.schursastrophotography.com/software/photosh...;
I was put on to this action by Dave Burrow whose amazing startrails image can be seen here:

The brilliant thing about this PS action is that the longest exposure you need to take is 30sec and so it virtually eliminates the noise problem of conventional long exposure startrails. You can imagine how much noise this shot would have as a 30min exposure.
The straight lines are some of 9 planes that flew through these exposures over the half-hour I was taking them – amazingly consistent flight paths. It got so busy I had to delete some of the planetrails, hence the little gaps in the startrails.

Amazing
Hi Geoff. Great work here (the usual!). Pity I had already seen it on flicker, I miss the “surprise” effect but I still find it stunning nonetheless. I like the straight flight paths, which break the almost too perfect curvy lines of the startrails. It’s a bit like a dance between nature and human creation.
Awesome work Geoff!!!
Brilliant work Geoff
this is just so beautiful and that were I live in the little line of lights in the distance. looks so pretty doesn’t it.
This is a stunningly cool image, Geoff! I think you ought to post the original too; There’s something incredibly compelling about the star-trails and the jet-trails. Fantastic colors and excellent details. Wonderful composition; and really superb post-processing work. Cheers! Chris
Wow Geoff… You never cease to amaze me… The perfect composition here with the silhouetted mountain side and bright lights of the city.. And what a neat trick that action is!! :)
I saw it here first.. so figured I’d comment here!!
