As a reader Tarot has fascinated me for many years. I love the connection it creates between you and the querant – the privilege of being let into their life for even a brief time to explore things that really matter to them. And the process of giving them the gift of maybe seeing something that had been intractable to them in a whole new light. I also love masque and candle light so Alison joined me to try and pull these different elements together.
And you’re asking me advice for lighting?? ;)) I like the strong contrast, and the candlelight works really well on her skin. In my very humble opinion though the composition looks a bit too symetrical (too “set-up”) for me, which defeats the purpose of mystery. I’d cut off the left hand side completely. The newly cropped image will draw more attention to her eyes and facial expression (=story telling), it will be more intimate. However if you want to put the emphasis on the theatrical side of the scene then this is perfect, but I saw the words “mystery” and “story telling” in your keywords so… Hope you don’t mind me saying this, and you’re totally entitled to disagree! :)
