To Take This Path
I’m temporally challenged so dawn shots are rare for me but a couple of times a year near to daylight saving change-overs the sun stops getting up at a silly hour and becomes rather more civilised. I was lucky enough to shoot this after a night of rain so the rock pool on top of the cliffs was full.
Shot off Bundeena Cliffs, Royal National Park, Sydney.

Geoff Coleman... replied
- YOU don’t have to say anything my dear – just having your presence here is enough!
Travis Easton
Get out of bed more often you lazy bum and share with the amazing fruit of your efforts, stunning shot mate ;-)
Geoff Coleman... replied
phhbbbtt (as Rhana so eloquently puts it) – it’s not my fault you morning nazi!! – i’m reporting you to the Anti-discrimination Board for the temporally challenged (we are a certified disability so there!!).
Thanks mate – will do my best.
Caroline Gorka
Amazing colour !
...must try it myself one day :D
Geoff Coleman... replied
- everyone should see at least one dawn (but only one!! – what a silly time for such a spectacular event – when all the most receptive and sensitive souls are tucked under their doonas). Thanks Caroline.
LeighN
Fantastic Geoff! The light and reflection in the rock pool is amazing.
Geoff Coleman... replied
Thanks Leigh – that particular pool is the definition of ephemeral – usually only lasts a day after the rain.
Juilee Pryor
beautiful image…. I read somewhere recently that there are traces of lithium in the sun’s rays but they are only effective at dawn…. don’t really know if that’s true but I know I always feel excellent after getting up early to watch the sun come up…. lovely work
Geoff Coleman... replied
Thanks Juilee – don’t know about the lithium but it may as well be kryptonite and me a sleeping superman!
Mel Brackstone

Geoff Coleman... replied
Thank you kindly Mel – glad you like it.

I just realize I may have skipped this photograph Geoff – the bits of gold scattered across the foreground and amazing (lucky rain and all that) as are the tones. The line that parts the sun in half is an excellent touch and it helps to make it come alive as it radiates its magic – I imagine the timing for this shot had to be crucial and no doubt you were there at the precise moment to go “click”; we can only sit here and behold. A finest addition to your body of work G!
Geoff Coleman... replied
Ahhh shucks – thanks mate – SO love your visits – very much appreciated.
