Moonfire Sky
Taken at Wattamolla Lagoon in Royal National Park just south of Sydney looking north-east. The yellow glow is from the city lights.
The sky looked like it was on fire with silver and gold licks of flame. And the moon halo just accentuated the mythic feel to this night sky scape. All gone in a few moments.
The clouds were moving fast so I had to shoot at ISO 1600 to get a fast enough shutterspeed to minimise the blur. This is one of my early night moon shots taken with the Canon 30D that I stumbled on looking for something else.
Moonfire Sky belongs to the following groups:
1 In The Beginning - Ancient Practices, All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Eerie Lighting, Live, Love, Dream: , National Parks of the World, New South Wales Photography, Practising the Dark Arts, Shoot The Moon, Skyscapes, Spiritual Art and Sydney Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Laminated Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints and Framed Prints

Stuart Chapman
I really had to read into the description to confirm my thoughts before I started tapping away. The clouds look like they are dancing, almost flame like as they are rising, released from the city’s unnattural grasp ascending towards the heavens and up into the stars. I’m only scratching at the comprehension of the technical abilities required to pull off this shot, straight into the moon, city flare, moving clouds and pin point precision stars in a blue sky, and resign the fact that I can’t work it out and decide to just marvel in its spleandour instead.
Geoff Coleman... replied
Ah Stuare no one writes comments like you my friend. Thank you so much for your lovely words – really makes a person’s day when someone goes to this much trouble in a comment.
OwlMountain
I wish I could put my thoughts about this image as beautifully and clearly as Stuart did. There is definitely something magical about this capture that stirs our imagination…. to me it’s a huge fire of souls escaping the city…
cheers
