You have to keep looking for that killer sunrise Geoff, if not it will turn up when you wont be ready for it, bad luck today. I’m sure you’ll find the prize eventually
Liz Wohlrab
absolutely stunning moment been captured well done
steen
yeps…i like the processed one…good work
Juilee Pryor
I think I’d like to see it as a black and white…. its got lots of drama in it…...
LostBoy
nice work….the title…well…I am allowed to take days off you ape.
Rhana Griffin
How RUDE of nature!!! I adore this version Geoff, but that shouldn’t come as any great surprise ;) I have to say I’m with Juilee though, this would look sensational in b&w!
reflexio
I like the processed one, i slightly prefer the original. Have you tried to HDR the original? The processed one looks a little un-natural as most of the clouds and see have the orange tinge.
Peter Hill
Well, I’m sorry Geoff, I knows what ya mean, all too well, but I ain’t gonna sympathise with the guy with tha Canon EOS 1Ds MkIII !!! :) I like both btw.
Travis Easton
Hi Geoff, Personally I think that if the gear were really light, the killer sunrises too common, the great locations everywhere and too easy to get too then a ‘great’ shot would be so commonplace as to be meaningless. Admire your honesty in posting the original and personally I prefer this one but admire your editing skill as well.
DarlaReeves
Beautiful image! Very nicely done!

Hi Geoff, I like the edited version better, although the original is not bad. The colour contrast between the red and the blue adds interest though. I agree with Juilee and Rhana, it would look amazing in b&w, there is enough contrast and dramatic light for it.
Lynda Kerr
Not even the big fella upstairs could tell the difference, probably thinking how clever he is.LOL
Robert Mullner
G’day Geoff…well the cloudscape in the original is awesome…I do like your treatment but prefer the original…yes sometimes all that effort doens’t pay off…but when it does, those mornings make up for any duds you get….
AlexMac
i prefer the edited version personally, I have seen surnises and sunsets with these colours and they are brilliant, great work here :0)
Bill Fonseca
Hey Geoff, both versions suit a purpose somewhere. I like them both, if only the cloud formation was better for you. No worries mate, they are still good and there will be plenty more mornings. lol
Michael Bermi...
Geoff,

I think this is better than the original by far, but mate…keep getting up on those mornings, you’ll get a cracker soon enough!
I get out of bed every morning half an hour or so before dawn, have a look out the window and see what the cloud formation is like. If its crap…back to bed, if not Its a short drive to a decent hill/field/beach or whatever.
And you wont be dissapointed.
Rosalie Dale IPA
They are both great Geoff (I’d go for the processed version if I had to choose)
lallymac
Hey Geoff – I think that you have processed this beautifully. The colours are so much more eyecatching and vibrant than the original. Would be awesome if the sky had been this colour though!
bamagirl38
This is now a daily feature in the group Live, Love, Dream ! Have a wonderful week!

Beautiful image ! I do like the edited version better but I think the original would look pretty cool in HDR.
zacco
wow what a image dude
Nikki Trexel
i like teh colored one better…but they are both pretty neat. i’d be proud to have taken it.
Joey James
Geoff,
I love the reconstruction. absolutely amazing colors. It looks very realistic and I wouldn’t have known it was reconstructed unless you told me. Thanks!
~ Selle
The processed version is more attention grabbing – and I admire your skills in achieving it!
Ciska
love the original and love what you have done to it.
Dagger133
Both are beautiful, personally I like the original, a red sky in the morning is usually a portent of a dreadfull days weather.
P.S. I like to head west and shoot sunsets you don’t have to get up so early.
dinghysailor1
natural one wins for me by a whisker! keep on trucking that gear…
:)
Kerri Gallagher
Like them both but I think the original is my fav
Erhan OZBIYIK
What the
—-—!!!! Thats a great work with the colors and the thema… Wow.. !Jan Stead JEMp...
Geoff…both great, love the processing work you’ve done, as it looks so much like surnises and sunsets we’ve all seen. But one of the greatest features of this capture, in the original, is those amazing clouds!!
They simply draw you in and focus the viewer’s attention on the horizon!!
So, I don’t think the processing would have worked without this feature which was already there, laid out, as it were, that morning…that not so wasted sacrificial early rising.
Matt Halls
I like the result of your post-work…well done!
Graham Lea
The processed one is fantastic, Geoff. I didn’t even realise you’d modified it when I first saw it. Great work. Love it.
lancewilliams
Dont see shy your disapointed. Looks like you made a very good picture. The clouds are very nice and the editing is amazing. Maybe you should change the title to ‘Thank you’.
Mel Brackstone
You’ve done a great job in making up for god’s shortcomings, Geoff :)
Keegan Wong
