The Deanery Tower(Grade 1 listed) was built in 1495 by Archdeacon William Pykenham as the gatehouse for a new rectory that was never completed. It is a good example of brickwork with diaper patterning, trefoil arches, turrets and battlements. Adjoining is the Deanery House(Grade 11 listed) of 1833, where Hugh James Rose held the Hadleigh Conference that led to the Oxford Movement, which promoted ritual and colour in the Anglican Church.
