Immediately after graduation aged 22 or 23, I lived and worked in Sydney before moving on to London for a few years. This is a composite photograph of Darling Harbour taken during that period which has been created from three 35mm film negatives recorded on my old Nikon.
Even in those days a low fly past over the city of Sydney was difficult, however my Cessna pilot received permission to follow a route north along George Street at a height which enabled me to shoot a series of images from which this photograph was created. Passenger cruise liners and cargo ships can be seen at the Pyrmont landing stations, Pyrmont Bridge is open to traffic and the Pyrmont Bridge Hotel is a central feature of this old photograph.
For those members familiar with Darling Harbour today, you will notice a remarkable transformation in the urban landscape since 1969.
