She didnt know if that was her heart breaking or her bra's underwire sticking inby Genevieve Robey
Gouche painting, May 2009.
Alternative title: “Why not take all of me” a line from the song “All of me” written by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons. Sung by many greats including Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, Willie Nelson ….
lol the title is funny .. but the image is really beautiful .. love the colours and the sense of angst in this.
Thank you so much PJ. Really glad you can see the angst that I wanted the picture to portray. I almost gave it a different and serious title …inspired by the song ‘all of me’ … I’ll post that into the ‘description’ section shortly.
this is great. such strong expressive brush strokes. love the titel
Thanks John, really flattered especially considering your truly brilliant work! I’ve really been enjoying doing work with stronger and faster brush strokes and seeing what results it can provide … it does definitely help with expression.
btw, I didn’t word my comment very well .. i don’t dislike the title .. it just made me giggle ;)
no your comment was perfect, I know what you meant. very sweet of you to confirm though : ) i was wanting to put he alternative title there anyway … “underwire heart” rocks!… and has just given me a vision of a future pic!
This is sharp and thought provoking. Love the title, too. I often use songs to inspire my work or evoke a mood I am attempting to capture in a piece. All Of Me is wonderful for such a purpose. I have every rendition of the song you’ve mentioned and I’ve used each of them to great effect.
I’ve been humming “All of Me” lots this afternoon following you reminding me of the song by commenting on this piece! "… you took the part that once was my heart … so why not take all of me.. " lalala … love that song. Wonderful to get your great feedback on my work. Thanks so much.
Funny how things ‘connect’. You, reminding me, reminding you, reminded me that I had written a piece a while back for another poetry forum where I am a member. I have since added that piece to redbubble, ‘here’:http://www.redbubble.com/people/bowlofstars/wr... I hope you enjoy it.
Yes it is indeed funny how things connect … inspiration creates something and creativity inspires something … And I really appreciated you connecting me to your writing by reposting that. People who are not moved by music, even a little bit, is something I’ve never understood.
You’re quite welcome, Miss Robey. Thank you for visiting and commenting on my work. Music is truly a universal language expressing the emotional state of the artist and the audience alike; regardless of one’s mother tongue.
