LYRICS

I really like Christmas
It’s sentimental, I know, but I just really like it
I am hardly religious
I’d rather break bread with Dawkins than Desmond Tutu, to be honest

And yes, I have all of the usual objections
To consumerism, the commercialisation of an anc…

Poetry brought to life

Posted over 1 year ago

This is really gorgeous. A nice message and great collaboration.

A video by film-maker, Andrea Dorfman, and poet/singer/songwriter, Tanya Davis.
Davis wrote the beautiful poem and performed in the video which Dorfman directed, shot, animated by hand and edited.

A nice way to approach a “first world problem” that doesn’t have to be a problem, but something beautiful and pr…

There is a song that is one of my favourite musical discoveries of this year – “Black Smoke” by Joni Davis. You can listen to it here and Tim Dunlop blogged about her here

Joni sent me her amazing album and I was instantly taken by the cover art …

Watercolour wonders, Zbukvic, Pekel and easel envy

I got to see an INCREDIBLE watercolour artist demonstrate his talents yesterday at the Art Shed.

Melbourne-based Joseph Zbukvic is in Brisbane at the moment for his exhibition at Red Hill Gallery.

If you’re interested in watercolour and you haven’t explored this guy’s work, you simply must. http://www.jzbukvic.com

Joseph seemed to really have the audience (packed-out, I got the…

Creative spaces ... and music, coffee, tech and stuff

I’m putting the final touches on my art studio at the back of the house and I’m really dying to get started in there this weekend. I was running out of room to move in my small art room.

Someone tweeted a link to this article recently that may be of interest to you – Leonardo Da Vinci’s Top Six Tips for Getting Things Done
I’ve been thinking a bit about this sort of thing …

Happy Geek Pride Day!

Posted about 2 years ago

Yes, that’s right. 25th May is Geek Pride Day. (it actually is, not kidding here.)
That’s geek not greek (but Greeks should be proud too!)

Everyone is probably inherently a bit geeky… but we may have had it beaten out of us by bogans, bullies and bullshit.

Geekdom has brought me much happiness. It can be totally fun, silly and healthy … as well as incredible and serious. M…
