About “Slices in Time” Jenny Davis
In creating my artwork I use various processes. By physically dismantling objects and clothing then reassembling them into something else, my intention is to reconstruct the meaning, or purpose of an object, from its earlier meaning and appearance.
The process, materials and final arrangement of " Slices in Time" link to the extravagant still-life paintings of the Renaissance period and to, Joseph Beuy’s installations “Infiltration for Piano/1996 The Skin 1984” I viewed in Paris.
Using light as my source to separate layers,“Slices in Time” is a contemporary “coup d’oeil” ( glimpse) of a fragment in time.
