There are two types of people in the world, takers and givers.
Taker
When I was two I took my dog’s toy away from him. He bit me.
When I was ten, I stole some money from someone at school. He punched me.
When I was fifteen I rob a liquor store. I got shot, and went to jail.
When I was twenty I got a good job and planned to get ahead no matter what.
I scratched and clawed my way to the top stepping on everyone on the way up.
Once at the top, there is only one way you can go.
When I was twenty five I embezzled money from my company. They got even. I got time.
When I was thirty I stabbed someone in jail because they stole my cigarettes. I got more time.
Now I am fifty and can’t take anything else, because it’s all gone. There’s nothing to take.
Someone said you have to be a giver. I don’t know what that means. I want more.
When I was, I took.
Giver
When I was two I gave my toy to my dog. He was happy and played with it a lot.
When I was ten, I opened a lemonade stand and gave the earnings to the poor. They hugged me.
When I was fifteen I people gave me enough to open more lemonade stands. I gave the earnings to the needy. They were blessed.
When I was twenty I got a good job and planned to get ahead by helping other people.
I was promoted because I showed how much I cared for people and everything I did multiplied for the good.
When I was twenty five my company gave me a bonus. I gave it to charity.
When I was thirty I went on a mission trip to help build homes for the poor. I was blessed.
When I was fifty I was training kids to go on mission trips and teaching them how to give.
Someone said you have to be a giver. I know what that means. I want to give more.
When I was, I gave.
