A Place To Rest

A Place To Rest

The egret is going to a place of rest in the tree. Resting is good. It’s another way to rejuvenate the body and mind. A time when the body heals its hurts. A time to reflect.

This is a compilation of the egret, and tree. The landscape, sky, sun and water were generated in Photoshop. The reflections of the tree and egret were created with a reverse image, and reduced opacity. I’m not quite sure if I got the egret reflection perspective right and would appreciated your comments.

Hope you like!

This is great George. I think your reflection is wrong, not sure though. When something is reflecting in a mirror it is opposite, I think it is the same for any reflection, not sure?

  • George Lenz replied

i just did a test and when I reflect the original image it’s that same as in my image….so I may just need to change the perspective a bit.

very nice george i do think that the reflection of the tree is well placed but the one of the bird needs to be brought lower in the frame and to the right to match the true perspective of this wonderful image

    Great work
I think the shadow is too far forward
was the frosty look of the tree intentional?
the shadow of the tree that overlaps the island contains white. Shadows are only either grey or black. Try a little bit of the ripple filter to your tree shadow. Try experimenting with different types of layer, darken, lighten, screen etc.

    More Shadows
hope these give a little insight into shadows it is a very big subject
I would add a slight fog to the horizon with a little bit of gaussian blur.

If we are to use the moon/sun the light source in your pic as the main source of light then the shadows of both the tree and bird should be towards us. Consider looking in a park at the shadows form tree in the water and observe how they fall.
