Mixed media painting #5 from my series on the theme ‘TBC’. Acrylic and glass marbles on canvas.

My interpretation of ‘TBC’ in this painting was ‘to become conscious’. I am attempting to get into a habit of meditating daily, as I believe it has some really profoundly beneficial qualities. The way I was taught how to meditate was, strangely, out of a consciousness textbook, during my undergrad days as a psych major. In the book, the author described a mantra that could be used to focus the mind,’ om manne padme um’, which apparently means something roughly akin to ‘the jewel at the centre of the lotus flower’. In my painting, the mind becomes that jewel.
