Carried on a summer wind
your gaze devours pieces of me
as leaves plummet to the ground.
We lived, we tried, we crashed.

When did we grow so far apart?

Pieces of each other we offered
kept some, rejected a few.
Shredded time with one another.

In rags we reach out with a breath
to start it all again.
