This gorgeous gem of a museum was mentioned to me a few days ago, so of course I had to go and check it out. Absolutely well worth the drive to Sheffield, the famous Tasmanian “town of murals”. Aunty Iris’s Museum is located on the main street in Sheffield, and is not very well advertised unfortunately for her, but the interior is memorable. Teeming with over 1,500 dolls from the 1800’s to the present day, and also has over 2,000 other items..including a working miniature train set (which had mesmerised a male person who could NOT walk away from it, even after 1/2 hour playing with the set – to his wife’s chagrin) and there is even a set of ELVIS and PRISCILLA wedding models .. which each adult model is about a metre high. Excellent work. Brilliant display. An absolute MUST SEE for any tourists to Tasmania, as well as the town’s murals. Please mention to the lady owner of the shop that I did put this on the net as I said I would. She needs more advertising and I am hoping to help her in any way I can, even though she is a stranger to me, she is a sweet lady.
