Can you fall in love with a mountain? I adore Mt Murchison, Rosebery, on the west coast of Tasmania. I actually taught some locals to LOOK at the mountain – I was always commenting on it – the glow, the majesty, the colours, the shapes I could see – eventually my workmates would look at it without realising that they were (they had taken it for granted – as most people do with what is in their backyard) and say “Gaylene would love that!!!” They were actually seeing it now too…made me proud to know that I’d opened up their eyes. Lots of people would come into my work (at a doctors surgery) and tell me about places of interest to snap. Tourists from all over the world would love my pictures that I had displayed – and was giving out for free (it was my cost but my love to do so). I just love walking / driving around and snapping things and TALKING to so many people on my wanderings and climbs … met people a week ago from Spain and Germany whilst on the Nut, at Stanley. Swiss ladies climbing down from Cradle Mountain. Lovely.
