Silhouetted against the setting sun on Queensland’s Moreton Island, the Akubra believed to be derived from the Aboriginal word for head covering, the Aussie and, of course, the fishing rod. Relaxing after a day’s work, my husband, Rick is fishing for flathead, a lazy fish that lies just beneath the sand waiting for the food to come to it. He didn’t catch one but………what the heck, he was enjoying an iconic Aussie pastime!
