Round Rock Volunteer Fire Department Engine 7 by

The Round Rock Volunteer Fire Department was disbanded in 2007, after 123 years of service, when the Emergency Service District elected to cancel their contract with the volunteers and instead to contract with the City of Round Rock Fire Department. This was the volunteer department’s parade engine, and I’m glad to see that it remains in pristine condition.

Thanks for the feature and comments. A bit of good news – I later learned that the locale at which I shot this engine is to be its new home – a new fire museum at the Old Settlers Association at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. They have another antique engine coming along with smaller bits of memorabilia. The museum is set to open in July 2009.

Gorgeous! Happy to hear they are at least preserving the history they are dismantling.
