This cartoon will appear later in 2009 in the second issue of Beliefs and Values, a Springer publication and produced by the International Beliefs and Values Institute, Virginia US.
It challenges those who uphold notions of traditional / conservative values to see themselves as part of a global community. The caption was subject to an editoral review and changed a few times to better reflect the message the journal was keen to present. In the committee’s view, those who are often most strident in their moral and ethical positions are very selective about how they assign them and need to be challenged, particularly from an environmental perspective.
