May Day Poster Victoria 2009 by

2009 Poster for the Victorian May Day march.
This poster depicts the financial meltdown in 2008/2009. Trillians of dollars are thrown at the financial institutions, bankers and car makers to maintain the economy. Stimulous packages and small handouts are provided to workers with the assumption this to will prop the ecomomy. I have drawn Kevin Rudd, tipping the scales of justice towards the rich. Obama and Brown embrace the same system that contributed to the financial system and further reinforce the inequitable distribution of wealth. Paradoxically the economic landscape is now dependant on the emergent Chinese and their form of capitalism and whose workers are also now suffering from the down-turn. This time in history reinforces the view that we need a fairer and more socially democratic environment to pass on to our children. I have tried to convey these key themes through the poster.
