This has not been the best week for me. I’ll spare you the details. But when things get me down, I try to think of more positive things, such as the two best lines I’ve ever heard.
The first happened many decades ago. My aunt had only just got her driver’s license, and she stalled at an intersection. As she vainly tried to restart the engine, the driver behind honked his horn incessantly. This went on for quite some time. Finally, my aunt got out of her car and walked to the driver behind. “I wonder if we could swap places,” she said. “You try to start my car and I’ll sit here and blow the horn.”
The other great line was when a friend of mine decided to declare his homosexuality to his family. His sister’s immediate response was, “Oh, goodie! Now we can go shopping together!”
