Jimmy Cook Reincarnated by

Well, shiver me timbers me hearties and batten down the hatches, I couldn’t believe my mince pies when I saw this bloke as I strolled around Circular Quay yesterday. He was busy restocking the brochure rack. “Are you gonna put this on Twitter?” he asked. Or was it Facebook? One of those. “I can’t allow anyone to take a photograph unless it’s gonna be on Twitter.” “No,” I said, “but I’m a good friend of the original Jimmy Cook.” “Oh, well,” he said, “that’s a different matter then.” And I told him I’d been aboard the Endeavour. “Jim was a tall man,” I continued. “Six foot three.” “That’s a fallacy,” JC II argued. “He was only five foot four.” “No, no, no,” I insisted, “he was well over six feet. I was in his room… the flash one at the back of the boat reserved for the captain. It had a very high ceiling.” Then I asked him if he’d been on board The Endeavour and he admitted he hadn’t. Gary 1, JC II 0. So then I told him about Red Bubble and said I’d post the pic there. He was a lovely bloke, actually, and very obliging. Fuji Finepix S7000.

About Gary Kelly

I’m a hobby photographer. In fact, I’m not sure Red Bubble should refer to me as an “artist”. But I do like to take photos that are above average, and certainly appreciate learning from my fellow Bubbleonian’s efforts as well as their comments. I use a second hand Sony Cybershot F717 and a Fuji Finepix S7000… oldies but goodies. Photography allows me to keep souveniers of my experiences. Today’s deeds become tomorrow’s memories.

Love the story and photo Gary. Seems like you had lots of fun on your trip.

  • Well, I dunno about lots of fun, William… but I found a few highlights despite the crook weather. I was there for a medical appointment with a head and neck specialist. I’ve often been told my main problem is from the neck up.

Great yarn and a top shot, they should use this for advertising.

  • Thanks, Terry. Yes, I seem to have a talent for bumping into eccentrics hehe. China with the hat, the bearded taxi driver, and Elvis Lesley. Who’s Elvis Lesley? Stay tuned.

When I was down in Sydney I wondered why there was what appeared to be a Norwegian flag on an Aussie cruise boat… still it was not enough for me to jump on one.. I stuck with the harbour ferries and one whale watching vessel. Next time…..

Can I just add (Ok what is the point of the question, when I am going to add anyway….?) that when I saw this I was convinced it was a dummy/mannequin… you could have knocked me for 6 when you said you had a conversation with him and that he answered you :-P
