A bunch of workers from Essential Energy were here yesterday with all their big trucks and cherry pickers and whatever, upgrading the wires. We were without power for about 7 hours, dammit. Outside my house was a lollypop bloke with his long stick and Esky… and 2-way radio. But when it came time for a cuppa, that was it. Down tools and seeya later. Hehe. Coudn’t resist taking a pic. Wonderful composition Gary. It wasn’t all bad, at least you got this cool pic :)
You’re not gonna believe this, William. A big LPG tanker collected a parked car just down the road and then proceeded to demolish a power pole before it eventually came to a halt just outside my front fence after pushing the parked car 80 meters halfway into the roundabout. The lines were down and sparks were flying. Pretty scary stuff. Luckily the tanker didn’t explode otherwise I wouldn’t be replying to your comment. “Goodnight Irene” as one of the power workers said. Anyway, we have a new pole and the power’s back on. And YES, I took lots of pics despite a cop telling me to piss off hehe.
What exciting things are happening around your home Gary ! Glad you are still here ! Bet the owner of the parked car isn’t too happy ! Will there be more pics to come? Happening again today … continuing on the same repair job … or another one ?
I dunno if exciting is the right word, Trish. The initial crash and bangs shook me up a bit… being so close and all. I’ll put an album together tomorrow and post the URL.

Typical. :)
Any bet that knock-off drinks were in the Esky… and that they weren’t iced tea!
They weren’t. I checked. :)

Wow Gary. You have an exciting life in Taree! Goodnight Irene indeed. Re the cops – good onya :)
Yes, William, I’ve gathered from your previous posts and favorites that the boys in blue are not on your Christmas card list. Hehe.

I`ll drink to that Gary. So no power no cuppa for you eh!!
Little did I know at the time, Terry, that such a peaceful scene would be shattered by a runaway gas tanker. Stay tuned.
