Much better viewed large
Photographed on Low Quebec Canada
A mid sized owl at 16 inches with a 28 inch wingspan,,For size reference a Common Crow is 17.5 inches and a regular pigeon has the same wingspan of 28 inches. These owls are quite fearless and I have seen them take off after Ravens and Red Tailed Hawks to chase them out of their territory. They also have very little fear of man and can sometimes be seen in the Winter months on rare occasions when some of them move South of the Boreal forests in search of food.
Canon 7D and 500F4…hand held at 1/2500 sec F7.1 ISO 250…spot metered and manually exposed.
