Dark Side Of The Woods/ Great Gray Owlby Gary Fairhead

From the Winter of 2009 and this was one of four Great Gray Owls I saw and photographed over a period of weeks in the Dunrobin Ontario area. This shot was overexposed but was salvageable thanks to the great tolerances in the RAW image. I underexposed the RAW image to TIFF format by almost a full stop. I also had to add canvas to the bottom as the bird’s foot was touching the edge of the frame. The background was dark but busy so its been blurred. So a bit of work to salvage one of my favourite images of this owl :-)
Canon 50D and 400 F5.6, ISO 500, 1/1000 sec at F5.6 + 2/3 exp.comp. (which is what overexposed the original file)
