RAF pilot Henry ‘Pat’ Lardner-Burke in his Spitfire Mk IX, MH434, downing a Luftwaffe Focke-Wulf Fw 190 while on a “Ramrod” bomber escort over northern France in August 1943.

Flying as Red 3 in No. 222 Squadron Lardner-Burke closed to within 300 yards and opened fire from dead astern. The Fw 190 dived and he followed it, a second burst sending it vertically downwards and into the ground near Audruicq.

I am available for commissions to cover educational and theatrical events in particular – including cast portraits and actors’ headshots.

    Good one Gary. – Ted

  • Thanks Ted. What might not be readily apparent is how much I’ve rebuilt MH434 to restore it to ‘new’ as it were. Even its current markings all needed to be redone.
