    Love the peel off Gary,
    I think it was the aviation artist Robert Taylor, who wrote that there wasn’t any rapeseed fields during WW2 so be careful on your choice of modern colour photos as ref. Yellow cornfields are ok of course.

    He’s not wrong. At least I photographed this more-or-less where it’s supposed to be in northern France! I went over it metre by metre, taking out polytunnels, silos and white vans … Did you notice though how the alignment of roads in the right foreground echoes the Spitfire’s elliptical wing?
