Don’t let this song
end too soon
I need this music
loaned to me
for one more day…
to fill the air
each morning
scarcely there
yet oh how precious
pretty
and sweet…
sometimes prone to weep
just knowing
I will touch
the petals
of another flower
feel the warmth
of another ray of sun
upon my skin
and light…
glorious light
will blind me
with its beauty
for one more day…

Everyday is on loan isn’t it? With all its joys and all its beauty and wonder – too bad we don’t realize when we’re younger how much we are missing as we race through our days!! I pray you’ll have so many more Gary because as this poem, so beautifully and touchingly written, indicates, you know the priceless value of each one of them now.
Thank you, Lianne… for your well wishes of more of these precious days to savor… a bit like “September Song”…
“Oh, it’s a long, long while from May to December
But the days grow short when you reach September
When the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame
One hasn’t got time for the waiting game
Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious few
September, November
And these few precious days I’ll spend with you
These precious days I’ll spend with you"
… and I guess that’s the month I’ve reached…

One of my favorite songs of all time – and yes, perhaps I too have reached it. But then… I’ve always loved September.
Very touching words…one day can bring a world to you and just as well take it away…when that happens we learn to appreciate one more day…Refreshing! :O)
Thank you for your appreciative remarks, Loramae… it has a simple, but effective feel to it… glad you liked it…

I had to read this a few times to take in the wonder of it all….it’s simply the most beauitiful expression of love for the important things in this life.
Thank you so much, Saleire… glad you found that it spoke to something inside you… upon completion it seemed to me overly simple in a way, but then, like you in the re-reading, it captures a lot more than is immediately apparent when you re-read it…
