Vintage High Key Beauty
This is an old image from pre 1950 that I turned into high key. I also made her skin much softer almost like procelain using a simple technique.
Go over the skin and heal any imperfections with the heal brush eg moles blemishes etc.
Using the eyedropper in the colour pallette pick out a nice soft area on the skin and click it.
Go into new adjustment layer and click on solid colour. Now go into your blending mode and click on Soft Light and adjust your opacity to your liking (I went down to 75% on this image).
Go into Filters – Blur – Gaussian Blur and set the scale (Pixels) at about 8% or to your liking.
Now add a layer mask, using a soft brush go over your image and highlight the eyes lips, hair, (hat in this case) parts of the nose etc.
To finish it off I just used my Burn Tool Midtones set on about 10% exposure and went over the eyes to make them pop a bit more.
With a bit of practice and trial and error you can get your portrait snap shots of the family to have that air brush look in no time.
