The Gold Commissioners House by

This image is of the two storey timber residence that was the Gold Commissioners house during the days of the gold rush. Located in Sofala, N.S.W, the house comprised of front and rear verandahs and balconies and would of had a large central fireplace to keep you warm on those cold Sofala nights.

I like this image a lot, Adrian. For this country boy, it is very evocative and I reckon it captures the mood and feel of these old formerly majestic houses to a T. Your treatment doesn’t overwhelm but enhances the character oozing from the frame. Great composition and lighting a good foundation.

  • Thanks very much Peter, your comments and thoughts are much appreciated.

Ah! so that’s what this grand old building was. I have a photo way back in my gallery of this one and I believe its being or has been restored. I love your presentation of this one, its excellent and a definite favourite♥

  • When i was there about a year ago now, it looked as though renovations had just started. Not real sure though if they are in a hurry to finish.
