Wallancarra
An unused train station just across the QLD border along the New England highway. It’s rather wonderful at the moment up there, frosty mornings and the smell of cosy fires…love it
The railway was the only rail link between Queensland and New South Wales until a standard gauge track was completed in 1932, with the completion of the bridge at Grafton. From that time on, the Wallangarra station lessened in importance. All scheduled rail services stopped in 1997. In 2003, after major refurbishment, the station was reopened as a museum.
Railways used to be a focal point in town and railway stations often had architecture to match. Either way they are still places of some magic, romance and often aesthetic interest, sometimes even when the train doesn’t run any more.

Wow Garry! What a winner of a shot! Fave! I have been through here so many times and have never noticed this! What an eye you have! (Perhaps you should contact someone at Wallangarra and let them know you have this beauty! Perfect postcard, depicting the wintry weather of that area!)

A wee bit of a deviation from your usual style. :-)

A stunning shot Garry, that sky tops it off nicely. Looking forward to visiting these sort of areas myself, now a tad closer to it.
