I love to plant complimentary colors next to each other in containers in our garden. Blue lobelia sets off the yellow of the begonia nicely, with white lobelia and burgundy verbena in supporting roles as well.

Besides photographing things I find beautiful, I love to paint in watercolor! It can be loads of fun, creating its own beautiful color combinations as they run together on the paper, or it can be surprisingly independent, doing “its own thing” where you pretty much have to give up control – one never knows! That’s all just part of the fun!

Just look what happens when an artist plants flowers in her garden! Whether they realize it or not, every viewer of your garden gets a lesson in color theory. :) A striking image!
You’re a darling, Celeste! I’m amazed to see your comment because just yesterday I showed my 14 yr. old granddaughter around the garden, and told her how much like painting a garden really is. However, there are so many more variables to consider when you bring in the weather, light versus shade, amount of wetness, etc., all of which just adds to the fun of doing your best and then letting Nature take its course. I’m glad you like this combination, my friend! Thanks for adding it to your favorites!
