Often the flower structure underneath can be as intricate and beautiful as it is above on hydrangeas.

Besides photographing things I find beautiful, I love to paint in watercolor! It can be loads of fun, creating its own beautiful color combinations as they run together on the paper, or it can be surprisingly independent, doing “its own thing” where you pretty much have to give up control – one never knows! That’s all just part of the fun!

SO FANTASTCI! IT LOOKS LIKE A TREE:))

  • Hi again, Tereza! I just discovered that when I replied to you four weeks ago, I’d placed it in the wrong box! I’m so sorry! I was so new to RB I hadn’t caught on to the right process. Here it is/was: “Thank you, Tereza! I appreciate your kind comment.” Thanks for your patience! – Pat

  • Hi, Ann! I just realized I’d put my reply weeks ago in the wrong box! I’m so sorry! Here it is again: “Thanks, Ann! I love hydrangeas, and each year add one more bush to our garden. This was a shot I couldn’t resist taking. I hope to paint it one of these times.” – Pat

Absolutely beautiful, I am lost for words!

  • Hi, Jacky! I just discovered that when I had replied to your kind comment three weeks ago, I’d put it in the wrong box so it never reached you! I’m so sorry! Here is/was my response: “Jacky, thank you! Have you ever had a chance to visit Savill Gardens near London or Holehird Gardens in the Lake District? They both have literally hundreds of gorgeous hydrangeas of all types. I believe Holehird has the national collection for the U.K. With your special photographic ability, you could get some dreamy images there! July is when they are at their finest! Next year, OK?!” Thanks for your patience, Jacky! – Pat

This is really beautiful! I love the colors and the light.

  • Thanks, Shelagh! I appreciate your nice comment. I really love hydrangeas – the several bushes we have spread their blossoming time out over most of the summer and fall, and range from light blue to a lovely plum color.

I love them too and have been trying to persuade one to grow for a number of years. Obviously I have not found the right spot for it. It put on good growth this year, but no flowers.

  • Hi, Shelagh, I’m so glad you like them, too. One thing I’ve learned about them is that blooms only grow on last year’s growth, so if that growth may have been pruned off, no flowers for the next year. They like fertilizer now and then as well, and I’ve found that different hydrangeas have different tolerances for sun and shade. It may just take some more experimenting with relocation that will do the trick for you. If you happen to know any of their names, there are hydrangea sites on the internet that might be able to help you with specifics. Do keep trying!
