Geraniums at Gillthwaite Rigg, Windermere
In August, 2004, we were staying at a lovely B&B, when the rain came down in torrents one particular day, splashing so much on the windows it was hard to see outside. Thus it became a great opportunity to sit tight and paint a bright pot of geraniums that stood on a windowsill there.
Watercolor painted on Arches 140 cold press, 8”x 9-1/2”

Beautiful painting Pat. Imagine you had your art materials with you while holidaying at a B&B! That’s dedication…
Pat Yager replied
Thank you, Orla! Knowing that rain clouds are never too far away no matter where (or almost where!) we are, I always try to take some with me along with my camera. Don’t know if that’s dedication or just preparedness! (I used to be a Girl Scout.)

such a beautiful WC, love the peacefulness
Pat Yager replied
Thank you, Hal! Yes, it was a very quiet, peaceful day – at least until we headed out into the storm for dinner. We had a GREAT meal at the Queenshead in Troutbeck – and chocolate bread pudding for dessert! It was SO cold on the way back, but Tony, our host, had a roaring fire going just for us, we were so impressed! One of the reasons we so long to go back! – Pat

What a lovely painting Pat! I just love geraniums on a window sill and this is such a beautiful depiction. It’s so comforting the way it’s sitting there in the window’s light and all your shadings and colours are so sensitively done.
