This beautiful staircase is located in the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, CO.

This is the hotel that inspired Stephen King’s “The Shining” and is reported to have it’s share of ghosts. The fouth floor (the servants quarters) is reported to be the most active, usually with the sound of children playing in the hallway. It’s also reported that F.O. and Flora Stanley, the original owners, also haunt the hotel. In the ballroom, Flora can be heard playing the piano, while F.O. hangs out in the lobby and the billiard room.

Magnificent, and the story is really interesting – that movie scared me to death, and yet, look, these gorgeous stairs!

  • what a gorgeous hotel it is… guess that’s why the owners don’t want to leave! thanks for the nice words.

Very interesting – I feel like I’m playing a piano scale in my head when I look at it!

  • you’re the second person to mention the piano connection, and i have to admit, a piano came to my mind when i first looked at this on the computer… i have no idea why………….
