Blowering Dam is near Tumut on the edge of the Kosciosko National Park. It is also part of the Snowy Mountains Scheme. You can see, if you look around the edges, that the dam is only at about 40% capacity. It was a fairly bleak day, but the sun would filter through every now & then. Timing was important for the shot. That & HDR has helped to bring up the detail.
Great shot Gail, Is the reservoir low for this time of Year Gail, Do they expect it to get lower?
We’ve been in drought for several years Jason so the level is low. We’ve have had some rain this year the dirt paddocks (pasture) are now green, & the water level is a little higher. Hopefully that means the drought is broken. This dam is part of the Snowy Mountain Scheme (sixteen major dams seven power stations a pumping station 225 kilometres of tunnels, pipelines and aqueducts). Probably better to read about it here it would take too long to type it all. Thanks for commenting.

Light/dark moody shot…like the sun poking through dead ahead and the way your eye travels up each valley….Love it.
