i’m a lighthouse lover too… and i’m thrilled to hear that
i can say this, i am not afraid of getting down and dirty for that
perfect shot and i am full of adventure… the trek there got me covered in mud as you can well imagine~ washed out from all the rain, but this is the reward…

as for the name, it truly is called cape disappointment~ it was named by captain meares (yes there is another lighthouse in his namesake) after he explored the area and was unable to find the opening to the columbia river… it is by far a disappointment, in fact, well worth the 1.5 mile trek in this gorgeous bluff where two lighthouses stand within like a mile, there are 26 some miles of beach, and touted the second windiest place in north america i hear.

no, far from a disappointment… in fact, the funny thing is, cape meares seems to me as the disappointment, you get there and all you find is a short little stub of a lighthouse, just big enough to house the lens… i am giggling, cause it seems funny to me, but truly, it is not a disappointment either, i find beauty in most everything.

hey tommy! yaeh it was one heck of a wet day! the trail was flooded out in many spots, and if you’ve been there, you know it was a challenge… somehow i find myself attracted to such adventures and found the rewards of getting to the top - well, priceless!
