A Fly Of Such - Chrysosoma leucopogon by

A weird looking fly, have no idea what it is, maybe someone knows?

Thanks to Josie it’s a Chrysosoma leucopogon, a widespread oriental -Australasian tramp species which reaches Brisbane. (Long legged greenfly)

macro, fly, chrysosoma leucopogon, my garden

Got the bug!
Am I obsessive?
Camera shutter worn out!
Computer suffering overload!
Did I take another 500 photos today?
Back up falling behind? :(

wonderful close up Gabe great image and details

  • Hi there Maggie, thank you so much.. This fly is tiny, it’s tricky to get a good shot of as it doesn’t sit for long. Was driving me nuts! LOL!

Hi Gabe, I thought it was a fruit fly, but when I looked on google it doesn’t seem to be a fruit fly. That is what someone told me when I took a photo of one!!! So now I am wondering about mine as well. LOL.

  • Hi Christina, Josie said it might be a Chrysosoma leucopogon, a widespread oriental -Australasian tramp species which reaches Brisbane. (Long legged greenfly) so when I get a chance in a minute, I’ll look it up.

    Thank you girlfriend!

Buggered if I know Mate but it’s a good shot.. I think it’s daddy was a mozzie. (skinny legs)

  • Yes it’s got a stinger for a tail, but it sort of does look like a mozzie! Good spotting there Al!

    Thank you buddy!

You take amazing shots of flies. Nicely done again.

  • Hahaha! Thanks Barb! Probably cause I hate the little bugg-ers! I haven’t managed to get the bot fly yet, they hover around the horses legs. Make a big mess for me to clean off their legs, with all the tiny eggs. You have to get rid of them as the horse brushes their mouths against their legs and the eggs end up in the stomach.

    Nasty little critters!
