Australian Kookaburra in my garden.

It was so cold in the garden this morning, blowing galeforce winds and who was sitting in the branches but Mr Kooky, getting blown to bits and having a bad hair day!

I just love these birds, they sit and watch, next thing they swoop down to the ground and find a worm or a lizard? It’s amazing how they can find worms in the ground, how does he see that? X-Ray vision?

He’s so beautiful! :) I love it when a kookaburra comes to visit. :) Great shot.

  • Hi Donna, thank you! :) I’ve got two resident Kooky’s in my garden, each morning he’s out near the barn or in the garden sitting in the trees. It’s easier to find them now as a lot of the trees have lost their leaves. I just love having these birds around.

    Wonderful capture

  • Hi there Larry, thank you my friend! :) Yes it’s galeforce winds here today and these poor birds are just sitting in the trees waiting for some sort of food to find. It’s amazing how he can just swoop down and find a worm in the ground. When I’m digging in the garden and find a few curl grubs they come down and get them if I throw them on the lawn.

  • Hi Larry, thanks buddy! :) Yes these birds are just so amazing how they laugh. I was only thinking how amazing they are when they can find a worm in the lawn down in the ground from like 100 feet away. X-Ray vision eyes! :)

He does look very fluffed, poor little bugger. They are wonderful birds, I love the morning chorus.

  • Hi Odille, thank you so much for the lovely comment! :) Yes’ it’s so cold, I do feel for these little guys. At least they have their feathers to keep them warm. I’m frozen today.
