It was this butterfly’s lucky day. I had given up chasing butterflies as they always seem to taunt me! In my face when I don’t have the camera and as soon as I pick one up, none to be seen or just fluttering around out of reach.

Today I noticed this little guy hanging in a spider web, thought he was dead until I took a closer look.

After I pulled off the web,got a few photos, he flew off.

I was thinking to myself, it was his lucky day and it was mine! :)

You were both lucky for sure Gabe. It’s a terrific shot of this beauty. A fav Mate.

  • Awwh thank you Al! :) Yes I was pretty lucky to find this guy still alive. I noticed him in the web and thought I’d get a macro of his wings before the spider had eaten him. I was happily surprised to find he was still alive. He probably hadn’t been there long, he still had energy to fly off after I got the web off.

What a great story Gabe!!! This is a beautiful shot, and I am so glad you were there to rescue him!! Butterflies certainly are tricky to photograph with their constant movement. Your title says it all! :)

  • Hi Angie, I’m just glad I saw him, I was out chasing bugs with the macro, and his wings caught my eye. Yes you are so right, you have to know what time of day they rest. It’s so hard to get a decent shot.

    Thanks so much Angie! :)

  • Hi Catherine, how are you buddy? Thanks so much for the lovely comment! Yes I love butterflies too, I’ve got heaps in the garden at the moment but can’t seem to find any that will sit! :( Sad when you have to rely on spiders to catch them for you! LOL!

Ah, what a happy ending, it’s beautfiul, glad you saved it!!!

  • Awwh thanks Vivian, yes Di recons I now get good Karma for rescuing him! :) I’m happy he could just fly off! He hovered above me for a little while as though to look back at me. I have a few of these beautiful butterflies in the garden but they move so quick it’s not often they stop!

  • Hi Angie, thanks m8tee! :) Yes it’s a very pretty butterfly, too nice to leave dying in a spiders web. I thought the spider can just find something more ugly for dinner! lOL!
