The Watcher

On this path you now tread
Be wary of the life it breeds
And of the ashes you have spread
From your evil deeds

Here we are as lovers
in all that we surround
looking for another
reason to be found

So hide my spell
Do it with grace
Let it move
in fleetly ways

In the darkest hours
marvel your own blood
The cup is yours
Drink, you should

What holds the heart
From your re-animated past
A spirit only wanting
To calm you down at last

In amaurotic walls contained
and we shall return
Cackling fires obsessive
We sparkled, we burned

In an attic full of leaves
Autumn’s sweet asylum
In the copses and trees
What a cold malign

Boxed up in their faith
Oh these signs of wraith
Paths that intertwine
In one timorous design

Beauty’s breath only
A flake of light
Bright with a spark
Of a pallid life

You’ll begin to hear
The nocturnal shrills of sirens
It’s the crux of your condition
Your learned predation

Storms of rain
Of melancholy snow
Winter twilight smiles
This lurid smile

The walls creaking
With loquacious conversation
The bed and the window
And the sublime moon

A maestro of lullabies
Feeding sleep into your bones
Delicate light spills into
A darksome night alone

Now wake my shining orbs
Free them of your pain
Free to eat and to absorb
The horrors you sustain

Dread these sepulchral scars
Dread their empty stares
Of blighted seduction
Follow these instructions
