Breath of Hope

Stoically he stands
In the light of the moon
A hush falls
As he reaches upwards to the heavens above

Stars twinkle all about
A momentary breath of hope
So many before him have died
And so many more shall follow

Lead the way for others…
Do not be but a rush of wind
Crushing grasses to the ground

An imprint in the earth
Proof that he once was

Thoughts shared
Memories passed on
A shooting star gone

Written to accompany my artwork entitled Shooting Stars Over Tredegar.

Residing near the beach, I love to take my camera on photo-shoots when there is an impending storm, darkened skies, with the threat of rain or even snow! The shadows call to me and the fog is my friend. I hear sounds…yet most of the surroundings lie hidden from view. This allows me to escape into my own world, creating the next canvas for another of my “paintings.”

I love how tenderly you wrote about the ever present one’s that always writes and gives witness to history.

  • Thank you for reading my words, Iris… Yes, this structure and now these words are witness to what once was… That is a mouthful…
