Aurora Light

Aurora light
A playful sight
Toying with the canvas sky
With colors mixing and repelling
Producing a palette of pastels that invite
One to stop and look
And dream
Of what lies beyond
Susan

“The artist must create a spark before he can make a fire and before art is born, the artist must be ready to be consumed by the fire of his own creation.”
Auguste Rodin

“True artists are almost the only men who do their work for pleasure”
Auguste Rodin

An aurora is a natural light display in the sky particularly in the high latitude regions, caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere.

Residing near the beach, I love to take my camera on photo-shoots when there is an impending storm, darkened skies, with the threat of rain or even snow! The shadows call to me and the fog is my friend. I hear sounds…yet most of the surroundings lie hidden from view. This allows me to escape into my own world, creating the next canvas for another of my “paintings.”

The soft and playful colors in the sky are so appealing, but they also create quite a conceptual contrast with the silhouetted military watchtower. Beautiful work as always, Susan!

  • I had used the same military watchtower once before but it was dark and foreboding…I felt light and joyous yesterday as I created the pastel sky of lights, Celeste…end result so very different. Thank you!!! I always think of you when I create any of my seascapes…
