Soothing shades of blues and greens transport one to a special place…
Boats, nestled together, bob gently on the water’s surface…
A tiny floating dock, like an island, sits to one side
Beckoning one to step aboard and become one with the ethereal view.
Susan

For all who love the peace of blue waters, this is for you… Come step onto the little dock and ponder your memories.

“Your life is an island separated from all other islands and continents. Regardless of how many boats you send to other shores or how many ships arrive upon your shores, you yourself are an island separated by its own pains, secluded in its happiness”
Kahlil Gibran

Residing near the beach, I love to take my camera on photo-shoots when there is an impending storm, darkened skies, with the threat of rain or even snow! The shadows call to me and the fog is my friend. I hear sounds…yet most of the surroundings lie hidden from view. This allows me to escape into my own world, creating the next canvas for another of my “paintings.”

I love the exciting mixture of photography and illustration. Wonderfully effective and charming work, Susan.

  • You figured out this one precisely, Frannie! You have a keen eye but I already knew that… It is the same inlet that you are painting from my fisherman but from another perspective… Going to be a great weekend to photograph outdoors…Enjoy yours!!!

  • Thank you for such a dear comment and fave, Thea… There were so many boats just bobbing there…They hardly ever get used!

What a delightful and inviting scene, Susan! I love the lighting on the dock and your masterful use of color and texture. And your lovely words and the quote complement the image so very well.

  • I am so happy you are enjoying this warm sunny day, Anita! I just loved the little “dock” with the gas pump on board…Had to show it off a bit!! Thank you!

I see autumn colors on the distant trees, but the scene is so full of sunshine that it seems almost like a summer day. The scene the way you interpret it is so very appealing that I wish I were there!

  • You are correct, Celeste… Autumn here remains very much like summertime… Colorful foliage seems to be a rarity this year but the sun always shines…Thank you!

beautiful work Susan.. evocative of summer dreams and precious coveted memories .. instant fave!

  • Your lovely and poetic words always bring a smile to my face, Joseph! Thank you for that and your fave!!! So many boats doing nothing at all, here…always amazing to me to see no one using them…In the right foreground there is one man oiling the wood of his boat and that is all that I saw…
