The Wonder of It All…

A solitary wall of rocks juts into the water,
Guarding the beach from something unseen.

Protecting a turquoise pool from crashing waves,
A special place has been created…

A private quietude where one might examine the soul…
Susan Werby

“There is one spectacle grander than the sea, that is the sky; there is one spectacle grander than the sky, that is the interior of the soul”
Victor Hugo

“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air…”
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Distressed Jewell “Happy Easter”
A texture created by me “Ocean in White II”

Residing near the beach, I love to take my camera on photo-shoots when there is an impending storm, darkened skies, with the threat of rain or even snow! The shadows call to me and the fog is my friend. I hear sounds…yet most of the surroundings lie hidden from view. This allows me to escape into my own world, creating the next canvas for another of my “paintings.”

  • Yes, Tori…another ocean view from a dune on a military base… I do not know what the rocky wall does except maybe deflect large boats and waves from entering the beach…unsure… Thank you and for the fave, as well!!!

The rocks really draw the eye, and to me they break what otherwise has a peaceful look and feel. There’s a lot of visual tension here, and that keeps my attention riveted as I wonder about why the rocks are there. Perhaps they are used in landing exercises, since you said this is on a military base. A well-composed and thought-provoking image.

  • You are exactly correct in your assumption, Celeste…We used to sit on some rocks from above, watching the amphibious boats doing their maneuvers… The rock wall in the water is something new though… One day we were there, prior to 9-11, and they were dropping from a helicopter down ropes…exciting to watch!!! So happy you like this one and for the fave too… I am drawn more and more to the water and blues… I wanted people viewing this one to think…glad it worked!
