A ride through the back roads of western Virginia found this discovery of an abandoned farm house… Two windows were missing and a tattered curtain dangled out of the window… Dried vines seemingly sprouted from the roof as birds streaked by… Sunshine warmed the whole magical moment.

Dedicated to all the memories an old house holds onto forever…even after the last person leaves.

Residing near the beach, I love to take my camera on photo-shoots when there is an impending storm, darkened skies, with the threat of rain or even snow! The shadows call to me and the fog is my friend. I hear sounds…yet most of the surroundings lie hidden from view. This allows me to escape into my own world, creating the next canvas for another of my “paintings.”

  • Thank you, Joseph…I always ponder over the memories that once were within the walls…The tattered curtains caught my interest, as if seeking someone’s help…

Imagine the Dreams and Hopes that once inspired magic in this old house!!!
Great treatment on this excellent capture!!! Bill

  • I agree completely, Bill…I often say aloud, “I wonder who last stepped out of those walls and did he/she know there would be no return…” Mysterious thoughts for me, as well as you, I see… Thank you…

The sun created a spotlight for this wonderful old structure, and your texture work completes the effect. The scraggly tree with bright red leaves really puts an exclamation point on the image.

  • I was lucky that the sun shone on the house that day…It helped to sparkle those worn pieces of siding and lift its spirits… Thank you, Celeste…It all came together nicely…
