I continue my walk back in Time through the Great Dismal Swamp…This delicate image was where the Maroons hid from their enslavers. This image graces the cover of a book entitled: Slavery’s Exiles: The Story of the American Maroons by Sylviane A. Diouf

Dedicated to all the oppressed peoples of our world…may you find your freedom.

Residing near the beach, I love to take my camera on photo-shoots when there is an impending storm, darkened skies, with the threat of rain or even snow! The shadows call to me and the fog is my friend. I hear sounds…yet most of the surroundings lie hidden from view. This allows me to escape into my own world, creating the next canvas for another of my “paintings.”
